Last 2025 NHL Mock Draft: Matthew Shefer estimated number 1, but may be surprised As a approach to 2025

NHL drafts, it is my final projection of how the first round can be revealed. This mock draft represents my best predictions based on available information, personal assessment and some insight into team preferences. Nevertheless, these are educated estimates-no one really knows the results except the decision makings inside the NHL front offices. While there is always speculation and enthusiasm around the potential trades on Draft Day, I usually avoid very deep divers in it. In my experience, about 99% of business rumors never come. Most of the "big tricks" floating in the media are quietly away, which leads to a distraction rather than a reliable source of inspiration. He said, I think it is important to address a remarkable story about New York Islanders. There is a growing perception among fans, media members and even some people within the league that islands can try to trade for another top -10 picks to draft James Hagnes -Ek Long Island, a native of Long Island and a lifelong islands supporter. Let's clarify: While it makes it for a great feel-gud story, it is not how smart, forward-swinging organization it operates. Getting a top -10 pick requires a significant future property to leave, and such decisions should never be based on emotion or fan -driven stories. Their personal relationship for the team should not affect such an important option for the team until the hugged team has another possibility on the draft board.

Even more importantly, all indications currently indicate the islanders choosing Matthew Sheffers with their first pick. If that projection proves to be correct, speculation around a Hagnes move becomes irrelevant. However, if the team goes in a different direction, everything can be shifted quickly. Keeping that context in mind, here is how I believe that the first round of tonight can play. Each selection is based on scouting insights, team needs and recent combination of chatter in league circles.
