Iran’s Top General Warns of Retaliation Following US Strikes, Hints at Response Targeting Israel
Tehran, Iran – Iran’s highest-ranking military commander has declared that the Islamic Republic's armed forces are fully entitled to retaliate following recent US strikes on Iranian territory. While emphasizing the right to respond against US interests, the commander also signaled that the primary counterattack may be aimed at Israel.
Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Iran’s top military official, stated that the US attacks have given Iran's military “full authorization” to take action against American forces and assets. “We are fully authorised to take any action against the US military and its interests, and we will never retreat from these steps,” Mousavi asserted.
Despite these warnings, the general redirected much of his focus to Israel, labeling the country as a “criminal US proxy.” He warned, “The criminal US must understand that its illegitimate and aggressive proxy, Israel, will be punished.” This suggests that Tehran may opt to respond indirectly to the United States through strikes or operations targeting Israel.
According to Iranian political analysts, the country’s initial retaliation is likely to prioritize Israel rather than engaging in direct confrontation with the United States. This approach could be part of a broader regional strategy to escalate pressure on Washington while avoiding a full-scale war with American forces.
The latest developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, raising concerns of a broader conflict involving multiple actors. With both Iran and Israel on high alert, international observers are watching closely for the next move.
